Refresher Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings focusing on themes of health care reform, payment models, research and innovation, patient-centered radiology, and advances in the different imaging modalities. Refresher Courses are targeted to diagnostic, interventional and oncologic radiologists and are designed to improve knowledge and competence in responding to the challenges and advancements in the field of radiology.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the importance of CT protocol management to an imaging practice.
  • Identify tools that can be used to develop consistent protocols across multiple systems.
  • Develop awareness of the Management of Acquisition Profiles (MAP) IHE profile and features that should be requested from CT scanner vendors.
  • Recognize the practical and regulatory requirements for protocol management.
  • Identify the technical and clinical parameters that may be included as part of a CT protocol.
  • Summarize common difficulties in managing protocols across system vendors, models, and geographic locations.
  • Apply the master protocol concept to your acquisition parameters over your CT fleet.
  • Apply the master protocol concept to your reconstruction parameters over your CT fleet.
  • Describe the current commercial and custom solutions for protocol management.
  • Describe the protocol execution and management capabilities enabled by DICOM Protocol Storage objects.
  • Explain the protocol management architecture defined in the IHE MAP Profile.
  • Practice how to request standards-based protocol features in products.
