Activity Overview

Therapy for patients with lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies continues to advance on several fronts, including treatment of earlier disease stages, development of new agents and implementation of immunotherapy combination strategies. Moreover, as our understanding of resistance mechanisms and immune pathways has expanded, so too have treatment options for patients. Optimal implementation of diverse treatment strategies, whether utilized as standard in clinical practice or being assessed in clinical trials is essential to improve outcomes for patients across multiple lines of care.

This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the 19th Annual Winter Lung Cancer Conference®, held in February 2022. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing the treatment of patients with lung cancer, putting recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward oncologists involved in the treatment and management of patients with lung cancer. Nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, investigators, fellows, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of lung cancer may also participate.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Evaluate molecular testing strategies to optimize treatment selection in patients with oncogene-driven NSCLC
  • Identify current and emerging approaches for patient selection and decision-making for immunotherapy and targeted agents
  • Outline clinical data on therapeutic approaches for early-stage and locally advanced lung cancer
  • Apply immunotherapeutic strategies to patients with thoracic malignancies along the continuum of disease
  • Explain the use of cytotoxic, targeted, and other systemic agents in the management of patients with lung cancer with or without oncogenic drivers
  • Determine approaches to mitigate and manage treatment-related adverse events in patients with lung cancer
