PER’s practice changing 8th Annual School of Gastrointestinal Oncology® (SOGO®) is a 1-day multidisciplinary educational conference, revolutionizing the presentation of emerging therapies and evolving standards of care in the management of patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancer.

Led by world-renowned experts John L. Marshall, MD, and Michael A. Choti, MD, MBA, FACS, this symposium, now in its eigth year, will provide you with the tools you need to personalize care for each patient with GI cancer. The program will feature presentations on locoregional treatment of GI cancers and management of advanced GI cancers, as well as case-based discussions on multidisciplinary, real-world management of GI cancers. This program is designed to match your learning interests, with updates on the latest clinical trial data, current and emerging treatment strategies, and case-based lectures by expert faculty with a focus on the practical application of knowledge to the complex care scenarios encountered in contemporary practice settings. Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®) is committed to deliver an interactive meeting that fosters discussion, exchange of ideas, best practices, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the clinic.

The learning objectives of this program are:

  • Incorporate evidence-based genomic and/or molecular biomarkers in addition to clinical characteristics in order to personalize treatment planning for patients with GI cancers
  • Integrate evidence-based surgical, radiation, and systemic approaches, as appropriate, into multidisciplinary treatment plans to individualize care and optimize outcomes for patients with GI cancers
  • Prepare strategies for early recognition and management of treatment-related toxicities associated with GU cancer therapies
  • Optimize treatment planning for patients with GI cancers based on emerging data from clinical trials and evolving expert guidelines
  • Discuss ongoing clinical trial opportunities with novel agents or investigational strategies, in order to expand treatment options for patients with GI cancer
  • Implement strategies for the prevention, mitigation, and management of treatment-related adverse events for patients undergoing treatment for GI cancer, to reduce risk of harm while maintaining efficacy 

 

The target audience for this activity is medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, and hepatologists who are interested in the treatment of GI cancers. Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pathologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and management of patients with GI cancers are invited to attend.
